When I looked at the wiring I noticed the loom stuck to the heat shield and the sleeving melted. I bought a new sensor and was gearing up to change it when the car died suddenly again and had to be towed back home by the AA. My scan had 2 codes, one being a voltage issue with sensor or circuit A and the other the crank sensor. I had the DPF sensor and turbo actuator loom (runs along the back of the cam cover) burn onto my turbo heat shield a year or so ago and one of the resulting codes was the crank sensor was faulty (apart from the car increasing revs, then dying, then being a pig to start). Both crank and cam position sensors kaput at once and so soon after another electrical sensor was replaced? A strange coincidence.
